National Geographic’s Giant Kansas Map Comes To Westwood

Students Standing on Nat Geo Map

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk across Kansas?  Well, the students at Westwood Elementary were able to take a “trek” across the state in an hour!  Using the Nat Geo Giant Kansas Floor Map, the students at Westwood Elementary enjoyed a scavenger hunt looking for lakes, rivers, and other landmarks that make Kansas unique.  Wildcat explorers discovered that Kansas doesn’t have very many large towns, and most of the ones we do have are in the northeast corner near the Missouri River.  Other activities included measuring the distance from Junction City to nearby towns and towns a far distance from Junction City.
