Title 1 Information

Westwood Parent Involvement Plan
At Westwood Elementary, we believe families are our most important partners. When parents and caregivers are involved, students feel supported, confident, and ready to succeed. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for families to feel welcomed, informed, and valued throughout the school year. From the very first connection through Porch Pop-Ins and Sneak Peek, to ongoing communication and celebrations of learning, we strive to build strong relationships rooted in trust and collaboration.

Family engagement at Westwood is more than events on a calendar. It is a shared commitment to student success. We encourage parents to participate in conferences, Site Council, PTO, and student intervention meetings, and we maintain open lines of communication through newsletters, social media, Skyward Family Access, and our daily Wildcat Communication Folders. Whether attending a music program, cheering at Field Day, partnering in academic Family Nights, or collaborating through our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, families play an essential role in shaping a positive and successful school experience for every Wildcat.

Westwood Family Engagement Overview
1. Welcoming All Families

We intentionally create opportunities for families to feel connected from the start through Porch Pop-Ins, Sneak Peek, Parent Orientation, transition meetings, and family events such as the Freedom Walk, Costume Parade, and Westwood Family Night.

2. Supporting Student Success
Families are partners in learning through Kindergarten ASQ screenings, SIT (Student Intervention Team) meetings, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for academics and behavior, progress monitoring reports, and Family Nights focused on math, reading, and science.

3. Speaking Up for Every Child
We value parent voice and partnership through fall and spring conferences, an open-door policy, family surveys, distribution of parent rights, and our Title I Compact.

4. Sharing Leadership & Celebrating Success
Parents are encouraged to engage through PTO, Site Council, classroom volunteering, PBIS initiatives, student recognition assemblies, music programs, talent shows, and field day events.

5. Communicating Effectively
We prioritize clear, consistent communication through Skyward Family Access, monthly principal newsletters, classroom newsletters, social media updates, Wildcat Folders, auto-dialer messages, email, and text communication.

6. Collaborating with Our Community
Westwood partners with families and community members to provide enriching experiences and continued support that strengthen our school and enhance student learning.
